Help Fodorites! Would you recommend staying on the Pacific Coast or the Sea of Cortez side in Cabo. We wanted to go in February, but am now thinking if we want beach weather (80s) we should go later? March or April? The more I read, the more confused I'm getting... Thanks for any help.

We went in December for the first time. We usually go to the Caribbean side of Mexico. We loved it and will definitely go back in the future. We stayed on the Marina, which was within walking distance to most everything. We are more pool people than beach people. Love that most hotels their pools are heated. Medano Beach was within walking distance also. If you want the beach area, hotels there would be a good choice.

April would be warmer. The beaches are beautiful on either side. On the Pacific side and Sea of Cortez, most beaches have dangerous undertows and are not swimmable. The most swimmable and recommended beach is Medano, right in Cabo San Lucas.

Stay on either side. Great places to stay both sides. Just know the Pacific side is too rough for ocean swimming. Cabo is warm by day in February, just cool early mornings and evenings. You sometimes want a light jacket or sweater say for eating on an outdoor patio after dark. but it's usually warm enough to head to the beach and pool by day.

I really would love to be there during whale migration, but also want to be able to enjoy laying out in the sun and reading and relaxing. It also sounds like there are a few day trips to make.

My sister in Cabo right now. The weather is sunny, in the low 80's, she is at the pool and the whales are spouting off just off shore!. If you want to go in Feb. or March, then do it. It is still nice pool weather.
