Buying semiprecious stones in Argentina
Any fellow beaders out there - Can anyone recommend stores to buy semiprecious stones or other jewelry supplies, like sterling silver findings, while in BA, Salta, or Iguazu? Thanks - Claire

When we were in Iguazu, we took a taxi from the Sheraton - Grand Hotel one night, along the way I asked the taxi driver if her know of any stores that sold local stones, he took us to a fabulous bead store along the way (my mother is a beader). I bought lots of semi-precious stones and spent maybe $50, Mom was thrilled!

Hi Claire, I see I never responded to your last ?.
The store had all the local stones (the pink and green ones)and more, can't remember the name, but they are the "national" stone of Argentina. The selection was fabulous, the people in the store were extremely helpful. It was huge and hard to miss. They also carried carved figures out of the various stones.
It was on whatever you may call the "main rd" between the Sheraton and the Iguazu Grand Hotel and Casino. As I said, the taxi driver knew exactly where to take us.
My Mom made me a great pair of earrings with the pink stones, they're shapped like lemon drops, she did a great job!
