Buquebus Ferry
I am trying to find out how much it costs and how often to go from Montevideo to Buenos Aires on the fast ferry... I'd also like to know how far in advance you need to book a reservation on the ferry. Can anyone help me on this?
Thanks a lot.

From Montevideo ferries depart at 15:31 and 20:01 each day, and on selected days there are additional departures at 7:30 and 12:00.
Cost in tourist class is 155Pesos Argentinos.
Reservations a couple of days in advance are all that is necessary.

We made the mistake by having the hotel get our tickets. These tickets included lunch at a very large, unattractive restaurant. There several are lovely small restaurants in the area so avoid getting this package. Also, the ticket included a bus tour and guide. We opted to get off the bus in town. The bus was packed and the guide seemed annoying, so we opted not to take this service. Some people we met later who did the bus tour said we made the right move. The bus/guide doesn't give you enough leisurely time to explore the quaint old town and visit the museums.

Hi Evelyn, Are you talking of Montevideo.?You can get a remise for doing going around Montevideo from Remise La Española, they charge 155 pesos per hour, which is aprox. 6dolars. They could wait for you at the port too with a sign. But you need to call them ahead, 598 2 600 0416

Hello,
i need info about the Ferry also. Is it nice and reliable? Does it travel from Buenos aires to MonteVideo or do we have to do the ferry part of the way then the bus. I find the ferries to be inexpensive and nice but can be unreliable...what are your experiences?
Any info would be helpful
thanks

I am looking for a ferry or ferry bus service between Buenos Aires and Montevideo. I'll be transporting a bicycle. Any idea of the least expensive way to make the trip and what the costs might be in March of 2006?
thanks
thanks

The ferry is not expensive. It is very nice too. There is a bar-cafeteria on board. On the whole a pleasant experience. You can take a bicycle or a car or most anything.
You have a choice to take a ferry to Colonia and then the connecting bus or a direct ferry to Montevideo.
Two different ferries of course.
