Please answer this post only if you have stayed at both resorts.

Which do you think is better and why?

Last year we stayed at Bosque and this year we are undecided between the two. I've got reservations at both. Please help us choose.

Both places are spectacular.

Lapa Rios has better (easier) access to the beach.

The private decks at Lapa Rios are really nice. We could hear our neighbors (they are duplexes) talking when out there but you can't see anything. If Bosque could incorporate just a little more privacy around each Cabina (and maybe some coffee service in the morning it would be perfect because everything else is great.

I suppose you could say the beach is easier from LR but my biggest complaint with LR were all those darned stairs. We were in a lower cabin so getting to the beach was easy but getting to dinner was a hike. Over 100 stairs in 90 degree heat after hiking and what not all day just to get to dinner was not fun. There are benches to rest on. and we did see wildlife when walking up them.

One of the things we enjoy about Bosque is the ability to just wander around and look at things easily or the ability to get out and do some challenging hikes. Those beautiful showers are a bonus too!

Both places have reasons to go. They are both very nice. I just know that after one trip to LR we knew we wouldn't be back. After our first trip to Bosque we knew we would be back and have been many times.

I am not going to tell you not to go to LR. It is a beautiful place and certainly a lot of people have enjoyed their stay there. It just wasn't a good fit for us.

Suzie, thanks for your stairs feedback, that alone could be the deciding factor.

I haven't been to Bosque yet (it's on my list), but I'd like to reply to the review of Lapa Rios. Ours was one of the furthest cabins from the restaurant, and there were LOTS of steps, but we didn't mind. The more calories you spend on the steps, the more you can eat at their delicious restaurant. We were near no other villas (no duplexes when we were there), and that's the way we'd want it.

There's plenty of space for all of you to talk about your experiences on many other threads that are looking for your feedback.

PIcs, Info, are the bathrooms outside as well as the showers? Do the cabins/rooms have walls or is it Completely open? Is Lapa Rios more geared for honeymooners??

At BdC, the bathroom is inside, and the shower is outside; they are divided by one of those folding doors. Definitely did not feel like we were roughing it. The cabins have walls on 3 sides and then sliding doors that run across the front. These doors can be kept open all day to catch the breeze or closed to keep out any critters if you're worried about it. No locks on the doors, but we felt entirely safe and left our valuables in the room with no problems. There is a safe in the room if you'd like to use it. The walls have screened windows that also have louvered coverings on them - you can close the louvers for complete privacy or leave them open to encourage the breeze. The cabins have porches on the front where you can sit and enjoy the view. All the cabins along that front ridge have views of the ocean from high above the bluff. Have not stayed in a garden cabin, but that wouldn't be my first choice due to the long walks to dinner in the dark and the fact that we just love the ocean and find the views to be beautiful. Also enjoy being close to the water because it's hot there and the breeze is nice and helps cool things off.
