Best Way to get to playa del carmen from Cancun
Hello Hello
My husband and I have decided to fly into Merida stay for a couple of days then go to Playa del Carmen and fly out of Cancun
Is the bus a good option? how far is it? cost?
I would appreciate it greatly...
also any hotels on the beach in Playa del Carmen that you can recommmend.

hi, there are loads of buses between playa del carmen and cancun, the airport is before cancun. The trip is at most an hour. This is the info I was able to get
This is the Cancun Airport to Playa del Carmen Bus Schedule
From Cancun Airport to Playa del Carmen:
10:45 - 11:45 - 12:45 - 13:45 - 15:00 -
16:45 - 17:45 - 19:00 - 20:30
From Playa del Carmen to Cancun Airport:
08:00 - 09:00 - 10:30 - 11:45 - 13:00 -
14:00 - 15:00 - 16:00 - 17:00 - 18:15
Cost - 65 pesos [$8 USD] ONE WAY
Cancun International Airport
If you arrive at the International Airport [non-charter BUT sometimes charters fly in here ] then exit the front of the airport and walk to your right. There is usually a bus there but if not either ask a porter or just walk over to the bus stand which is right at the end of the front of the terminal.
Cancun Charter Airport
Just like the International Airport, International flights do sometimes fly into the Charter Airport. The Charter Airport has a shuttle service right out the front exit/entrance of the airport. You can also take a shuttle between the airports if you want to take the bus from the International Airport instead.
Playa del Carmen Bus Station
You catch the bus to Cancun Airport at the bus station on 5th Avenue across from MacDonalds.
You do not have to pre-purchase a bus ticket but show up at least 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

If you are looking for an AI, Look into the Royal Playa del Carmen or Royal Hideaway (you may be able to find deals on skyauction) If you want nice, but not fancy non AI, look at Playa Maya..perfect location. You really don't need an AI in Playa as thee are great restaurants in the town, but if you want AI or get a good deal the Royal Playa was great. Mosquito beach gets mixed reviews, but is on our list for future trips. It new, hip and trendy in a good location on the beach. Shangri-La has great bungalos on the beach. Hope this helps.

The terminals have changed with the opening of Terminal 3. If you are on an international flight which arrives at terminal 3 you will need to take a shuttle over to terminal 2 to catch the bus. You cannot walk between the terminals. Once exiting terminal 3 walk to the left through the swinging gates and find the sign that says shuttle to terminal 2. It will leave you off in front of the departure doors at terminal 2. Then walk to your left to the end of the building to find the ADO bus. They will be clearly marked either Cancun or Playa Del Carmen. Most international flights are now flying into terminal 3 and charters are coming into terminal 2. If you arrive at terminal 2 then exit the building and walk to the right all the way down to the end to find the bus. The new terminal opened in May and is quite nice.
