Best value in Osa/Drake

I'm trying to decide on a lodge in the Drake Bay/Osa Area. Anyone have comments about El Remanso or Punta Marenco? Or, are we better off spending a little more money on a place like Lapos Rios?

Thanks!

TinaKeane, check out this post "Places we stayed in Costa Rica. Rants and Raves"
We stayed in El Remanso only one night and would not return again. food was bad and their towels not completely dried. Nothing special.

Have heard positives about Punta Marenco from our San Jose bandb hostess. I would love to hear some first-hand reviews, though.

I would really consider Bosque del Cabo over Lapa Rios if you do decide to go the more expensive route. IMO the grounds are much easier to get around on as well as much prettier.

La Paloma is a very nice place in the Drake Bay area.

I presume that by Punta marenco you mean the Marenco Beach and Rainforest Lodge which used to be a reseaarch station. We just returned from there. The staff and tours that they offer are excellent. The food was also very good. The accomodations are a little on the rustic side, but are clean and each cabin has a nice balcony overlooking the ocean and/or rainforest. The lodge is on 1700 acres of rainforest with many nice trails that you can explore on your own. We had a really good time.

Actually,it was Punta Marenco that I'd heard good things about. I believe that the two lodges with similar names share acres of ranforest. Perhaps they're both excellent!
