Thinking of being adventurous on our next stay at BdC and spending one of our nights in a garden cabina??? Has anyone stayed in Almendra? Any advice is always appreciated! TY

Does Almendra have walls? I remember seeing some of the garden cabins that are open on the sides; to me, it didn't seem like it would offer much in the way of privacy, but if you're okay with it, it would probably be good for wildlife spotting. The one thing I really like about the ocean cabins is that you get a breeze, not sure if the garden cabins would offer that.

volcanogirl...you echoed my husbands sentiments exactly he's a bit worried about the heat. we usually do 4 nights but we're trying to do 5 nights this yr...last minute of course...the dates that were better for us had us doing 1 night "somewhere else" and then 4 in a deluxe cabina. sigh...i did think the wildlife sightings would be interesting...although i wouldn't want a puma wandering into our room

Haven't stayed in it, but that's the one that's right off the trail you enter if coming from the expansion bridge. If you could get a deluxe for 4 nights and a garden for 1, I'd go for it. A lot of time when you get there you end up not always having to change, they work it out somehow. It's got a big stand of bamboo right in front of it, always creaking & groaning.

Steph - I did that in January. Stayed 3 nights in a deluxe and then moved to Almendra. You don't have to worry about things crawling in because the open part of the cabin is off the ground.

Since we concentrated on packing up and leaving in the morning, the chance to see wildlife was kind of wasted for us, but I don't think the setup of that cabin is very good. It is too close to the trees, so the amount of forest you can see is pretty limited, and there is some privacy issue with the trail being right there. If I had to to it again, I would choose the further one, but I don't know if you'd be able to see more. It definitely is not as comfortable as the deluxe cabins. The bed is smaller and creakier.

I talked with a couple who spent one night there earlier in our stay and asked about the heat. She said she was cold out there, which I thought was interesting since I was warm in my deluxe cabina with a breeze. Well, one of us is crazy, but I thought Almendra was really still and really hot. They do provide fans, but we didn't use them due to the noise.

It's kind of fun for a one night adventure, but I wouldn't want to stay longer than that.

bd - Thanks for the insight. We confirmed with Leonardo today...4 nights deluxe and 1 night in the garden unless another cabina becomes available. Should be interesting...
