BA Sidetrip Ideas

Hello, My husband and I are spending one week in BA in March '08. We'd like to take a 1-2 night trip outside the city, but have a limited budget. I don't think plane tickets to Iguazu or the NW are within our means, so I was considering a visit to an estancia. Any recommendations? We're open to other sidetrip ideas as well!

My friend David Cummings owns an estancia called Estancia la Margarita. The website is estancialamargarita.com. It looks beautiful and he is the nicest guy. Please tell him Abby from NYC sent you. I think it's not too far from BA and he can probably help you arrange transportation. I'm dying to go myself!

March is perfect for the NW of Argentina!!! The diverse scenery of this area really deserves five days to see the gorgeous colourful mountains and rock formations.
Warm regards,

Abby, thank you for the suggestion. La Margarita looks beautiful! I've just written to them for more info on transportation, and mentioned your name. I hope it works out, thanks again!

Another suggestion might be a day trip to Uruguay (it's always nice when you can add another country to your list!) Many people enjoy Colonia. The boat you take from BA is called Buquebus.

We're working on picking an estancia to visit for next April, and La Margarita does look very nice.
