Arenal volcano area

Sorry that I'm a bit confused over a hotel selection that has views of the volcano/lava flows. There have been several postings, but I can't determine the hotel or hotels with best views. We will be there for 3 nights in January. I place great faith in the recommendations on this site,so I appreciate any imput.

Yes, I checked Arenal.net,but this didn't clear up much. The map locates hotels by numbers. There is no index of the hotels to match the numbers(that I could find). It was interesting that the Arenal.net ratings were frequently very different other recognizes rating services. Nevertheless, being located on a map dosen't tell the whole story of what visitors actually see. Thanks for the reference.

If you hold your mouse over the numbers on the map and have the correct browser settings (a little box shows the name of the hotel.

16 is Arenal Observatory Lodge
17 is Linda Vista del Norte

I stayed at Linda Vista del Norte in January and the views were good. But if I had it to do over, I would do the Observatory Lodge.

the arenal.net map has a rollover that shows the names of the hotels. maybe it doesn't work for your setup.

We have stayed at both LVdN and AOL.

For the view AOL can not be beat. The grounds are great. The food and staff were so so.

LVdN staff was better, the food about the same.
