Ancon Expeditions

Has anyone used Ancon Expeditions to book their tours in Panama? I am especially interested in eco type tours. I understand they own a few hotels in the country. Do they only book the full trip including hotels if you stay at their places? Or can they book at other hotels? Or do you just book the hotels on your own and use them for day trips? What areas do they operate out of? Will they take you anywhere you want or do they only work in specific areas?

Thanks in advance for your comments and recommendations.

Joni

Have you checked out other tour operators? They usually say what hotels they use. You should be able to book separately but most seem to go from Panama City.
When are you going to Panama?

I have heard that Ancon is the best for nature, birding, eco tours so I am trying to work them into my schedule if possible. We are planning to go in Jan or Feb.

Looking at Panama-Costa Rica trip in Feb with National Geographic Expeditions. Also considering International Expeditions, but it is just Panama centered around the canal area.

Ancon booked most of our Panama trip with the exception of Canopy Tower. I had researched where I wanted to stay, using the internet, and they made all of the arrangements. We also wanted guides, transfers and tours in different areas, and they handled all of that. We did not stay in any of their properties since I had chosen the lodges where we wished to stay. They handled all parts of our trip efficiently and with great guides.
