Airfare help needed!!

My husband and I would like to visit Belize in February 2006. We will be flying from Boston, and would like to ask if anyone can give us an idea about what a reasonable fare would be. So far, all the fares seem really high, and we can't find anything for less than $800 per ticket (with one stop in Miami). Since we are going to Costa Rica in June of this year for $735 (for both tickets), this price seems really high to us for Belize. Or maybe not? We know that Feb. is considered to be "in-season", but does anyone have any suggestions about how much we should expect to spend? We are really hoping that the high airfare will not force us to change our plans. Thanks so much for your help!

Air fares are irrational. Wait a while. Fares to Belize will come down. US Air has fare sales several times a year from Boston and elsewhere for US$300 or so (plus taxes and fees). AA and CO also have occasional fare deals.

Check with AA. It is currently $351. from Boston to Costa Rica. A few days ago it was $412 so it does fluctuate. Good Luck

Hi, I am also hoping to go to Belize in February or even March. I had the same experience when searching for flight. The cheapest I could find was $550 and having flown to Costa Rica also last year, that just seems really high. Am I searching too soon? Does anyone have any tips for when/how to find more reasonable flights? I was hoping to pay in the $400 range. If this price is in fact because February is high season, can we also expect to find only very high prices for hotels? We are thinking of going to Caulker Caye and some other places too. Thanks for your help.

It can be a pain in the neck, but if you are persistent and check daily, you will find that the do fluctuate quite a bit and you can save alot of money. Just keep checking, they will drop.

Some of the travel search engines will let you pick a destination and fare that you're willing to pay. They will email you if a flight is available at that price. Also, my husband and I got cheap seats last year to St. Maarten, I think because the seats weren't together. Keep an eye on the availabe seats on the flights that you are interested in and the price may go down when there is only a few left.

I keep getting discouraged when I check airfares from Dallas to CR. They are pretty outrageous for such a short flight. Talk about irrational: the fare goes down if we fly from Dallas to SEATTLE before heading down to CR!
