Advice on 1 month trip from BA
I fly into Buenos Aires early July for 4 weeks, priority is scenery, day hikes, pretty/quaint towns, wildlife. Desire day temps at least in 50's F (at least 13 deg C). After a couple days in BA, then where?
I'm open to either staying in Argentina (? Iguazu, Salta/Jujuy, Mendoza) or travelling to Bolivia ( ? Salar, Sucre, Potosi, Laguna Colorodo) or Chile. Will locales south of BA be too cold? Any input will be much appreciated.

Definitely hit Villa la Angostura. I just came back from there. Amazingly beautiful city in Pategonia. Fly to Bariloche then take a transfer to Villa la Angostura. I stayed in a hosteria right on the lake. Amazing and beautiful. There was a good day hike. I rode it with a bicycle and went both ways. (I didn't know I was in that good of shape..ha,ha) 30 kms. of very rugged terrain.
BA makes a good base to explore other places. You might want to hit Brazil or Chile (Vina del Mar especially).
Good luck. Email me if you have specific questions. I've traveled through most of South America.

Four weeks is a very good length to visit all Argentina at a very good pace.
Patagonia south is not impossible. Many excursions are not made in the glaciers but to contemplate them is a gift of nature.
I cant say much about Bolivia or Chile From Salta it is not difficult to get to Chile the same as from V.la Angostura if you rent a car and economize with that. From Jujuy you can make it to Bolivia quiet easily. But i cant help there.
regards,
Lake District. you will have to start booking, it is the high season and as Mike said Villa La Angostura is the best area if you want to enjoy nature.
For ski, Bariloche or Las Lenas are the most convenient.
If Mendoza is in your list, you are not wrong, it is a wonderful area and if you stay at a finca you will enjoy it more. And if it is at the foot of the mountains much better.
Iguazu will take only 2 days and an experience in the jungle in the same prov ince would add much more.
Salta/Jujuy is a place not to miss. Different and captivating. Nobody regrets spending some days in the area, never in the same place. It is a pity it is not so popular among tourists or locals yet.

As for scenery, 15 miles from BA try the Delta islands and Biosfera reservoir. Its a day tour that can be done in private or public boats, although expensive private tours/boats are by far better.
Martin Garcia Island and Colonia are good options too as day tours.
Must: 3 days in Iguazú falls / The rest of your stay of course Patagonia. Many great places to recomend !! South of Chile is lovely too !

Thanks for your suggestions, but will not Villa la Angostura/Barlioche/Lake district be to cold in July? I do not want to ski, only to hike and see nice scenery, with temperatures at least in 50's during day (13 C)

Yes , temperatures will be below 13 C.
A short visit to Brazil, maybe 3 / 4 days (Rio and Buzios) might be a good option too.
As for Chile i know the south but is very cold in winter.Excellent choices are Mendoza ,Jujuy and Salta, where you should think in renting a car , distances are huge in Argentina.
