Access to the amenities at Machu Picchu Pueblo/Inkaterra
If you are not staying at the Machu Picchu Inkaterra hotel, can you still gain access to their orchid trail, bear exhibit, bird trails, etc.? I read a post here from 2006 about someone having lunch at the hotel and thereby getting access to the trails on the grounds. Can you still do that?
The only rooms available for our nights are junior suites, and for two people is is $870 a night! I just can't bring myself to pay that much, but I really would love to at least have access to the gardens and trails somehow.

They have a speckled bear habitat (bear's face looks like a reverse raccoon, light around the eyes- it's the only bear in South America) on the grounds somewhere. This bear's natural habitat (tall trees in the Andean cloud forests) is disappearing; I don't think it is endangered per se (re the list) but it is threatened.
I went ahead and bit the bullet and reserved two nights at the hotel- got a much more reasonable rate through a peruvian travel agent than from the hotel itself. HAd a hard time finding a decent reliable hotel in AC, so just bit the bullet and splurged.
