Korean Posts

Those Korean posts are beyond a joke. In Australian eastern time, the European board is just impossible to scroll down through pages of them to get to the real posts.
I am at the point of leaving a forum that I love - surely I'm not the only one thinking this way?

No you are not.
Fodors is doing a very poor job.
Forum mustn't be a priority for them.

Not even Fodor's anymore. Last year it was reported that Penguin Random House was selling off Fodor's to Internet Brands who owns Flyer Talk.

So obviously Fodor's is even less a priority for IB.

Not necessarily . . . Watch this space (and keep your fingers crossed)

Apparently some fixes are planned in the near future.

I totally agree, but this is a different 'fix' -- we'll have to wait and see.

We have been waiting for those "fixes" for about half a year already. I do not believe in them any more.

I can assure you guys that our attempts to rectify this are genuine, as I hope are evidenced by our continuous communication about this issue.

The problem is, this spam attack is unlike anything we have seen before. And Fodors is the only forum we have that runs on the old Moveable Type platform, which has very few antispam tools built in. Everything we do requires custom coding.

We're constantly working on new ways to combat spam but unfortunately we have been unsuccessful so far. (Those spammers really know what they're doing)

Thanks for your patience everyone!

So we've just implemented some new filters and ip blocking that looks like it has taken a major bite out of the spam. Let me know if you guys experience anything different!

As I said in the older, longer post I noticed just one Korean spam post this morning and it soon vanished.
Thankyou for all your hard work on this, not only in making a spam filter but zapping so much spam in the meantime.

It looks like the new fixes are working! Hopefully the spammers won't be able to find a new way to get in.
