Zurich Airport Hotels
Does anyone have any suggestions for hotels within close proximity to the Zurich airport. We will have to be there by 8 am and would like to make the final leg of our trip as easy as possible. Looking in the $150 price range.
Hope someone can help because my brain is feeling a little numb at this point!
Thanks.

I've used the Movenpick and the Novatell airport hotels as my hotels of choice the night before departing Zurich for the USA.

Both hotels have shuttle services every half hour or so to and from the airport.

The Airport Movenpick is probably the best of the two hotels. I'd say the price for a room runs 135-150 bucks for a single room. I used to have the web site for the Movenpick, but no longer.

I know this suggestion will sound a little wierd, but you could stay in a hotel in the city center. The train schedule between the main train station downtown and the airport train station is so frequent, and the connection takes no more than 12 minutes, that a city center hotel is feasible. For an arrival at the airport near 8 AM, there are train departures at 7:26, 7:33, 7:40, and 7:47. These trains all travel daily on the current schedule.
The train station is in the same building as many of the airline check-in counters. It depends on which airline you are flying.
If you stay in a hotel in Kloten, you are then dependent on the hotel van to get you there through heavy morning traffic. Downtown, you could walk to the train station, or call a cab if you have too much luggage to walk.

Hi! We had the same question. We are traveling in June of 2002, and we have a reservation at the Loewen in Dielsdorf. It sounds like it is about a 20 minute drive to the airport Kloten in Zurich and is near the walled village of Regensberg. The hotel is reasonably priced and you get get addl info on the Karen Brown site. It was recommended to us by the great experts on this site! The Traveler.

I have also stayed at the Movenpick and the Sofitel. The Sofitel is in the city center, and about two blocks from the train station, which would be convenient for you. The Movenpick, although nice and modern, reminded me of a Holiday Inn. The Sofitel has a lot of charm, and although I was utterly exhausted when I stayed there, the most comfortable beds, best duvets and pillows, and beautiful bathrooms with lots of hot water. Nice buffet breakfast is included in the cost of the room.

http://www.eventi.ch/hotres/Breiti.htm

If you might be interested in a small rural hotel just 15 minutes by bus from the flughafen(they begin at about 5:30 a.m. and pass the Breiti every 30 minutes), take a look at this site. We've enjoyed staying at the Zum Goldenen Kopf in Bulach, which is fancier, but this little one is closer. The Zum Goldenen has a web site, too, and though we took the 20-minute bus to the airport, I think they might now have a shuttle. J.

p.s. I've just re-read your post, and it sounds like you might be driving from the airport. If that's the case, I'd surely recommend the Zum Goldenen Kopf in Bulach or the Loewen in Dielsdorf -- both are in historic buildings for one last sweet memory of Switzerland.
