Good Lord, you people need to be alone with your sweets in the privacy of your own room! This is embarrassing!

OMG! another thread about sweets in Europe!!
Some of my happiest moments have been spent in Laduree and Angelinas in Paris, anything you eat there is wonderful..I love chocolate, so sometimes any small Salon de The in Paris will fulfill that urge with a good mousse..I might be picky about some things, but just about any sweet containing chocolate will make me a happy girl~

This must be a girl thing. I have NEVER heard a male of any age sighing and getting all orgasmic over sweets, although of course they shovel them in with relish.
In Europe, I did enjoy treats that I never indulge in at home, due to weight control issues. It was very pleasurable...

The Mont Blanc, confection of meringue, whipped cream, and chestnut puree at Angelina, and Pavlova with mango sauce at Quaglino's in London.

When we were in Milan the first 'gelato' we ate was some type that was kind of a whipped version of gelato, but oh so creamy and light, it was heavenly. We could not find it again all through Italy. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Angela, could it be panna cotta, which is served in a dish, not a cone? It is made of heavy whipping cream and gelatin, to make it firm. It is heavenly. You can find a recipe on wwww.epicurious.com

Thanks, Sue, I will look for the recipe. Don't know if that's it since it was the first Gelateria we hit, I thought it was regular gelato.

You're right;if it was at a gelateria, it probably wasn't panna cotta; it's more a dessert you'd be served in a restaurant.

Laura-saw that you had been to Betws-Y-Coed and we are headed there in 2 short weeks-wondering what time of year you were there and how it was (besides that delicious dessert you mentioned!)-where did you stay-did you tour Edwards Castles?

Dina said that men don't seem to enjoy dwelling on sweets as much women do but " shovel food in with relish." What kind of relish?

No, No L! Please don't eat the gelateria in Milan! That's the SHOP that sells gelato (sing.)/gelati (pl.)! You will be very sick and there won't be a shop left where we can buy our gelato!
