Your Wildest Most Daring Travel Dreams?

Ok....so here goes.....I have a couple of wild travel dreams that I am hoping, with my recent stint at solo-international travel, that I will be able to accomplish.

To climb MT. Everest....ok, I know I probably won't make it all the way to the top, but I would like to climb as far up as possible to the point right before where I would have to start using an oxygen tank.

To do a shark cage dive---ie, to get in a cage, be dropped in the water, and feed or at least see a few shark.

To visit Mayan, Incan, and Aztec ruins.

To visit Egyptian pyramids.

And maybe, to visit the Bermuda triangle. Maybe.

What are some of your daring travel dreams?

Ride my bike from Barcelona to Alicante.

Do a stint of island survival.

See the Terra Cotta warriors.

Live in Syria (this one is in the works right now) and learn Arabic.

Steal a piece of Art from a museum while wearing white gloves and secretly return it.

Move to Brazil.

The Great Wall of China

The Snow and Ice Festival in Harbin, China

Nile Cruise, snorkel in the Red Sea, climb Mt. Siana, and visit Petra in Jordan. (hoping to do all that on one trip)

Israel

Macchu Picchu

I thought about climbing Mt. Everest, but because of the time, money, and danger involved, that's more of a fantasy than a dream.

birthdaygirlstrip, I've been through the Bermuda Triangle a number of times. That area is beautiful, but I'm sorry to tell you that nothing exciting or strange will happen.

I already did my "wildest" when I was young and wild - Travelled around the world from SF to Hawaii to Japan to Hong Kong...Thailand, Malaysia, Burma, India, Nepal, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Israel, to Europe...

now my dream is to become fluent enough in Spanish to live there for a year

Wow - you folks all make me feel like a geek! Right now, my wildest travel dream involves doing the coast-to-coast path in England all by myself!

I already fulfilled my wildest travel dream...I spent a week hiking through the Andes and walked into Machu Picchu on my 40th birthday. There was a double rainbow over the Urubamba River!

I would also like to see Petra, hike in Havasu Canyon, and to see Ankor Wat.

Hi

I would also like to take the inca trail to Macchu Picchu...or maybe go to Everest base camp. If you want a bit of a challenge I can recommend Kilimanjaro. I went there a couple of years back and it was an adventure. I have posted a trip report with lots of info on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com/kilimanjaro_index.htm

It would also be great to take walks in Via Ferrata in the Dolomites. I saw it on a travel show a few years back and it looked beautiful.

I have a bit of fear when it comes to diving but it would be fn to try it of the coast of Australia and go diving in warm water with lots of colorful fish

Regards

To travel the old silk road, all the way from China to Europe. Just the word Samarkand has magic in it.

Hey birthday girl - a trip to Isla Mujeres could tick off a couple of those. I saw my first shark while snorkeling off the island (and decided shortly thereafter that I'd had enough underwater sightseeing for the day.)

Chichen Itza and other marvelous Mayan ruins are easily accessible from there (I recommend Palenque and Uxmal), and a quick stop in Mexico City on the way home could score you a trip up the Pyramid of the Sun, knocking Aztec ruins off the list.

See? Three wishes, one trip!

(And BTW: The Bermuda Triangle itself doesn't impress - now the beaches, islands and ocean...THAT's another story!)

Personally? I'm holding out for that round-the-world-ticket, a year to use it and funds to go with it. Then I hardly have to choose

Happy travels!

birthdaygirlstrip - Two things on your list are very achievable if you would change Mt. Everest to Mt.Kilamanjaro where you will definitely reach the summit.
Next come and shark dive where the rich and famous do it, including Prince Harry - right here in South Africa!
The dive experience is at a place called Gansbaai near Hermanus ( a whale watching town).

The trip I have in my mind is for our family to hike down the Grand Canyon, spend two nights and hike up. I'd like to do this three years from now (our oldest is in 9th grade). The thing is, I'm INCREDIBLY out of shape, so it would take a year or so of hard work outs before I would be fit enough to even consider it.(Everyone else in the family exercises a lot and is great shape).
