I love Slovenia! We lived there for 4 years and I completely agree with the suggestion of dropping Zadar and spending more time in Slovenia. Bled and Bohinj are must sees, but also try to get into the Soca River Valley (Bovec and Kobarid). The Julian Alps are fabulous and great for hiking too. I also adore the Logarska Dolina area and the Gorenska Brdo area (if you like wine!) Postojna or Skocjan caves are very interesting and it one of you is a horse lover, Lipica where they breed the Lipizzanner horses is pretty cool.

Rovinj has small town beauty that is hard to match, and its whole world is tourism. Pula is bigger and is described as "workaday" because it doesn't depend solely on tourism, ordinary Croatian people going about their business, give this town a very "real" feel.

Hi!
If you don't mind driving, I would suggest to include Logarska Dolina in the itinerary - I am Slovene, and for me it is the most beautiful place in Slovenia! Nature is spectacular, with plenty of opportunities for hiking and biking.
Plitvice National Park in Croatia is stunningly beautiful as well, but you need a day.
Slovenian coast is kind of expensive (last weekend in Piran, my husband and I paid 11 EUR for 2 cappuccinos, 2 croisants and an orange juice), but very charming and definitely worth a visit, Piran in particular!
Try the Karst prosciutto in Lokev or Dutovlje, delicious!
Bled is an hour drive from Ljubljana, all highway. It is a very popular place, if you are looking for something more peaceful, I would suggest Bohinj lake, about half an hour from Bled - again, amazing nature!
You can buy the vignette at the gas station before exiting Croatia, or right after entering the border in Slovenia (in the summer season, there is a kiosk selling them, but I am not sure about the rest of the year). It costs 15 EUR for a week and 30 for two weeks - here are all the necessary info: http://www.dars.si/Dokumenti/Dokumen...nette_308.aspx.
Last year, we visited Rovinj, a very colourful coastal "town", with extremely hospitable people (my friend and I arrived very late in the evening due to an unpredictably long wait at the border, with no accommodation booked, locals directed us to a sweet B&B in the city center (Casa Garzotto) where the accommodation included also free parking (very important), tasty breakfast and free bikes to rent!
