Your recommendation needed
I am planning to take a 8-day trip to Paris in October. As I will be alone and plan to cover a lot of places in Paris within a week, location and safety are the main concern in choosing a place to stay in Paris. If you guys know or have stayed at nice, clean hotels with a reasonable price, please recommend one. Thanks.

Dear Eunice;
I am not sure of your definitoin of resonable prices;but here are some choices for Paris hotesl:hotel de la Bretonnerie; log on to www.karenbrown.com for more info.hotelwww.Caron de Beaumarchais.com
hotel verneuil ( the rooms are small but lovely with a great staff and; it's a great location)I think they are offering good summer specials now.You may be able to get a larger room for the price of a single.web adress www.france-hotelguide.com/h75007verneuil.htm
I do have other suggestions; but they are more expensive email me if you would like more info.
I would suggest a guided tour if you have never been to Paris; there were some suggestions on this site about a week ago. You could do a search under Pais tours.
It will give you more time to see museums etc.
Be sure to leave some time to just walk around and discover Paris...my best suggestion is do not be afraid to get lost...you will end up discovering something magical.
Viva La France
Sherri

We just returned from our first trip to Paris, and highly recommend staying at the Hotel Du Dragon. Its in the Germain Du Pres area, close to shops (including the famous Duex et Magots cafe), two metro stations, and within walking distance of many sites. The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. The staff is very very helpful. Cost for a double en suite is about $90 (price may be lower in October).

I second Cindy's recommendation; we stayed at Hotel du Dragon 2 years ago, and you absolutely couldn't find a better location. I felt our room was a pretty good size by European standards, and the bathroom was very modern, with ample storage space. I don't know if it is air conditioned, as we were there in April, and didn't need it.

In addition to the cafes nearby, there is a wonderful bakery on the street, and a Monoprix very close, near the St. Germain des Pres metro station. We bought fruit and juice at Monoprix and pastries at the bakery. We took a hot pot and made tea, so breakfast was easy and cheap. Have fun!

I've done some research since I posted a message here. Thanks to all of you guys' great advices, I was able to narrow down my search for the hotels to 12 hotels.

Unfortunately, most of great hotels suggested by you guys (either by direct e-mail to me or messages posted here) were fully booked already. Here's the list of hotels (with daily rate) that has availability for the period that I need a room:

Grand Hotel des Balcons (90 Euro)
Hotel Monge (114 Euro)
Hotel Valadon (85 Euro)
Hotel Le Regent (122 Euro)
Hotel du Danube (110 Euro)

I am still waiting to hear from Hotel du Dragon. I am not so happy with the list but at this point this is what I have.

Please give me your comments on this list or suggest another hotel that you think would be nice. FYI, My budget ranges from 100 to 130 Euro per night. Thanks.
