True--we haven't seen a flanner post recently. I too hope all is well.

Kovsie--looking forward to your report.

Don't miss the Ashmolean museum and for great views on a nice day you can climb the tower at the Church of Virgin St Mary. Only a couple of people can be at the top at any one time without stepping over the other but the view of the spires is worth the climb.

A better option for viewing Oxord's spires is the tower at St. Michael's ( at North Gate) . The church dates from the late 11th century and is one of the oldest buildings in Oxford. It has fewer visitors than St. Mary's.

Will start the report soon... Yes, the Ashmolean is on my little list for today. They have a special exhibition of Cezanne at the moment ... how lucky is that!

Questions:
1 does somebody know how the bus service here works? We use buses regularly, each time £2. Yesterday I bought a travel pass for £14 from the bus driver, but it seems as if this cannot be used on all the buses. Is there a difference between 'Stage coach" and regular buses? Where do I find out?

2 I do want to have tea with scones and CLOTTED CREAM
Any suggestions on where to go?

Yes there are a number of competing bus companies.
http://www.transportdirect.info/Web2...epeatingloop=Y should help
Clotted Cream is really a west country thing. But St Giles Cafe leaps to mind and someone tells me The Rose at 51 High Street

They're also known as 'cream teas' so if you see any signs advertising this, that's what it will be.

historytraveller: just want to thank you for the lovely walk we had yesterday, exactly as you described. It is spring and nicely warm, the river was almost crowded with people rowing, the pub along the way was a treat, the little church was a highlight. Thanks!!
