Young Visitor Discount-Oyster

Hi all,

I'm traveling to the UK next month with my family of 5, including 3 children (14, 11, 7). We'll be based in London for 6 nights, and I'm trying to suss out the logistics of the young visitor discount for Oyster cards.

My husband and I are just planning on using contactless payments, and I know my 7 year old is free for the bus, Tube, DLR, etc. For my two older sons, is it better to order the Visitor Oyster ahead of time, or should we just purchase Oysters upon arrival?

From what I understand, we'll have to get the discount applied when we get there either way.

Just get the Oysters at any tube station. There is no benefit to purchasing in advance.
