I have to say that I am definitely going through withdrawal and it makes it difficult to even continue with the trip report. I have been reading other people's trip reports and have realized how much we missed. We will definitely be back to Paris and in the near future and for longer period of time.
Our home exchangers in Amsterdam were really sweet. We got to meet them upon our departure because they arrived from the airport just as we were leaving. Well, we were still in the process of packing and were about to leave within the hour. They were so nice despite the jetlag, the husband actually drove us to the airport saving us lots of time and money and hassle. The home exchange was fantastic. The house was on a canal in the Jordaan/Westerpark area of Amsterdam, very close to Flinder's Cafe and Frederick Hendrik Plein park with sandbox and a playground.
The key was exactly where they said it was going to be. the townhouse was a very comfortable 2-story, 3 bedroom, 2 bathrooms family home. Our hosts left us a bottle of delicious Italian wine with our names on it. Keep in mind that we were the 6th family to stay at their house consecutively.
The sheets were clean, the garbage was emptied. Lots of great directions and books in the house about Amsterdam and the Netherlands. They also left us their GVB transportation cards, which we could refill, and their Museum cards which allowed us free entrance to Amsterdam museums. We also had full use of their 4 bikes, which was imperative in Amsterdam, to get around and to live like locals.
We were absolutely delighted to have such a successful experience and will do it again in a heartbeat.

I also forgot to mention that we did stop at one of the Paris Plages. We only spent a few minutes there because there wasn't really a spot to crash, I think it was the one near Pont Neuf. They looked lovely and very well thought out with sunbeds and white sand. However, since we were short on time, we didn't just lounge there. Next time...
