Yarn and knitting in Italy
I am an avid knitter. I will be in Venice and Florence (and some of the hill towns of southern Tuscany)in October. Can anyone recommend knitting/yarn shops?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I don't know any specific names for yarn/knit shops in Venice or Florence, but you might try to look either for the so called MERCERIA (a shop where they sell yarns, buttons, ribbons etc...) or shops selling FILATI (which means yarns). I am trying to remember the name of a shop in Florence which is more than a yarn shop, it sells craft stuff too, but it slips from my mind now....

Spruce,
I remembered the name of the shop! It is called FILOMANIA and it is on Via Malcantone 7/9rosso. Phone 055-603821.
There is also: INNOCENTI FILATI on Via Tavolini 14/rosso Tel.055-212744. It is near Piazza della Signoria.
There is also SCANDINAVIA: Via de'Ginori 23/rosso Tel. 055-289507 Check out their website: http://web.tiscali.it/cristyscorner/shopping.html
Mirko Campi Filati: P.zza San Lorenzo 35/rosso Tel. 055-294557.
A good map of Florence will help you to find where the shop are.
As regards Venice, if you love knitting and yarns you might want to visit BURANO, because there are dozens of shops selling crochet stuff (I am not sure about knitting though....) but the island is worth a visit too.... lovely coloured houses, neat shops.... maybe you'll find some yarn shops there too.
