X-mas in Paris?

May go to Paris for X-mas, how cold does it get in general? Want to see Versailles but will there be any flowers in Dec? It'll be my first trip to Europe. I plan on going to Britian in June. Should I just add Paris to the end of my tour?

There will be no flowers at Versailles in December, but no crowds (as during June) either. Depending upon the climate you're used to, Paris can be quite frigid in December, but could be mild, too, you just never know. June is a much better time to visit weather and flower wise. But, for crowd avoidance, you can't go wrong in December. You can enjoy Versailles without flowers. Note that holidays are taken very seriously in France, and many shops, restaurants, museums and other attractions will be closed for many days. Be sure to check opening days before finalizing your plans. If it were me, I'd go in June. My favorite month for visiting Paris.

We've been to Paris many times for the Christmas New Years holidays. Since we love Paris we don't worry about the cold even tho it does get a bit nippy. We go to Paris in the summer also and love it equally. We never get to do all that we plan. Of course, Paris and London can't be beat. Just go whenever you want. Do some planning and some non-planning. You'll have a grand time.

My sister and I are planning a trip to Paris at Christmas and I can't wait! I'm used to cold weather and the prices can't be beat at this time of the year. Maybe I'll see you at Notre Dame for midnight mass.

I won't be spending Christmas in Paris, but I will be there for New Year's. I cannot wait...already started packing! I am hoping this will be a celebration of a lifetime!

Lauren - we are going for the New Year festivities as well. Have you been able to find information on what goes on that night? I know the Champs Elysees turns into a pedestrian mall and that Boul Mich is crazy as well. I want to know what goes on at the Eiffel Tower - fireworks, congregating revellers, etc. Does anyone know?

Meg, I will be on a tour that happens to bein Paris at this time..Lucky me! This will be my first time overseas...I am hoping I won't be overwhelmed! I won't be with anyone I know, so it's sorta scary!! I'll keep watching the forum to see if anyone knows anything about this time of year!
