World Cup -2006. Did you get tickets?

Hi All,

According to the FIFA website, today is the day that applicants for WC-2006 tickets were to be notified if they were awarded tickets in the first round of the lottery.

So my question is - did anyone out there in Fodorland get lucky? Do you know anyone who did? Are you going to try again for the next round? (okay, 3 questions)

Yes! We were successful in getting tickets for Hamburg (6/19) and Berlin (6/20). Now I just need advice on how to make it happen. I am unclear as to whether hotels will take a reservation for over 1 year in advance.

Hey Ragdoll, I applied for Hamburg on 19/6 too - are you sure you didn't get my tickets by mistake?

Have a great time!

I got mine - I got specific team tickets to follow the USA... I read on the website that they will know when and where they will be playing in December. Hopefully I'll be able to get a hotel at whatever city the US is playing.

I think May 2nd is the second round of ticket applications.

ragdoll,

congratulations! That about sounds like the perfect itinerary city-wise to me - I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get some good teams assigned playing in those matches!

The games are on the 12th and 19th. Where should we stay? We were thinking of Dusseldorf, but it's such a dirty city.

Nuremberg 16 game. Sighhh..

I'm hearing that team-specific series are gone and an awful lot of people seem not to have gotten many game tickets at all.

Anyone have 1) any hope of scoring more tickets on the second go-round? or 2) any ideas, strategies for getting tickets otherwise?

A long way to go for just one game, but we're determined.
