>>>Look Left

If you're referring to signs on the road to warn pedestrians, the caution would (normally) be "Look Right". Think about it - we drive on the left hand side of the road. An exception would be in the case of a one-way street. In any case, it seems like a very unlikely candidate for phrases commonly associated with England.

Or is the word there just to get our goats?>

ah that should be:

Or is the word there just to get our sheep?

quaint - well for one thing the English spoken there is 'quaint' to us but yeh my topping the list was in fun but that don't negate the feeling i believe most Americans have about England being 'quaint'

the royal family and Queen are if not 'quaint' in a contemporary parlance then what - such an institution is quaint - like barristers wearing those silly wigs - quaint

But no England as a whole ain't quaint - France i agree, outside the cities, could be called quaint but not England.

Gordon - point well taken but it seems in London where they have bus lanes going against the grain of normal traffic they always have these Look Left signs and that seemed weird to me so remember it more than Look Right, which for tourists they should have more of IMO

Quite a rarity for Shoreditch, whether we're talking "attitood" or nasally challenging activities.

Wasn't she wonderful? I loved that series. And what about Rocky & Madge - remember the Americans filming Lionel's story at their house?

She certainly had the English dry humor, didn't she?

Yes, I do remember the filming of Lionel's story at Rocky & Madge's home... too funny. "Jean" in a cheap, hussy nurse's outfit, Madge and Rocky hanging out the window, "Lionel" in the full military regalia!

I, too, loved the series... I still watch the re-runs.

Not a phrase per se, but ending a statement with "Isn't it?" (or similar), thereby turning the statement into a question.
