WOOOHOOO! tHE TALK BOARD IS BACK

Okay, it's 4:40 EDT and after like, 36 hours or something of absolute cold sweats followed by a nervous tic in the left eye and lots of twitching fingers, thought I'd try one more time....aaahhh, relief! Fodors people, don't even tell me what went wrong...Just Don't Let It Happen Again! Not that I'm addicted to this board or anything. I'll tell you how bad it got: this morning, I actually spent a half hour at...the Thorn Tree. AARRRGH! (Don't laugh, I saw a post from another Fodorite there, asking what was wrong with THIS site.)So come on people, let's get back up to speed with trip reports, banal questions, and backbiting...and a truckload of Parisian dog poo on the techie who ever lets this happen again!

Yes - - almost predictably - - the "other" fodorite who started the thread on ThornTree (lonelyplanet) was me. And while I am a little "redfaced" about my "sky is falling" speculation(s) there, I am so, SO glad that none of my conjectures were correct!<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR>

OK--I admit it, I really missed it too! I'm not working this week, and my big goal was to put together my scrapbook/photo album from my 2 week Italy trip in March. So travel has been on my mind, and I couldn't even check in to touch base! Pleaase keep us going Fodor's--we love this site. I promise to buy a Fodor's book for every trip!

Don't feel bad, Rex. In a bit of a tizzy over not having my Fodor's yesterday, I almost posted on Frommer's trying to find out what happened to Travel Talk but decided not many people seem to visit that site anyway. <BR><BR>Are we Fodor's hooked or what!

bored, I gardened, too. Finally got those vegies planted before it was too late....I vote for Fodors going down once a month, so we can be sure to get other things done!

My family suggested I find something meaningful to do with my life if the Forum was really a goner.<BR>My response was "and I am not now?"<BR>Obviously they cannot consider the seriousness of checking this Forum. And I just am not going to knock myself out trying to explain it to them.

Perhaps it IS pretty sick -- but hey, it's not like we're addicted to some porn site or something, right?! So welcome back, everyone.

Glad to know I wasn't the only one who felt a moment of panic! I felt like we didn't even get a chance to say goodbye to one another before the site was gone, lol! SO, this episode begs the question.... where should we all meet up in the event of a future Fodor's catastrophe?

What a relief! Yesterday I thought I had lost a good friend - I couldn't understand why Fodor's would pull this forum without making an announcement. Am I glad to see my favorite site up and running again! I had no idea how "connected" I had become.

Have there been any explanations for what happened? For the longest time I thought it was just me - called Verizon to get it fixed! It apparently was a much bigger problem than I thought yesterday.

I think we need to get a life. Are we addicted to travel talk?? I was actually searching for another site similar to this while we were disconnected. Does anyone know of any others? Let's have a backup plan in case this happens again so we don't twitch and sweat and whatever else we all dowhen we can't talk

To T-Rex<BR><BR>I just love how you sign all your notes "Best Wishes", as if you really mean that. False humility like false wishes....really suck big time.

I think it would be considerate of Fodors if they posted a message telling us what happened.<BR>They like to tell us how to be polite and considerate when we post----how come it doesn't work both ways.
