within an hour or two from Paris by train

Another year.
September Trip
This Year we have only four days between Business in Brussels until we must be in Paris
In the past few Years have spent five days in each of the following:
Reims
Lille
Bruges
Can't think of anything large enough to spend four days, no Car.
Usually we have a full week and last few years in order we have spent a week in
Dijon
Bordeaux
Avignon
Lyon, etc.
But for 4 days would like something closer.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Bev

A few possibilities:

1. London as suggested by janisj (great idea btw)
2. base in Paris and do day trips (Giverny, Beaune, Chantilly, Fontainebleau, Chartres, etc,ie places you haven't visited from your other bases over the years - no doubt some of those I've just listed you have already been to, but you get the idea)
3. fly directly from Brussels to, say, Berlin (or insert own choice here), for the few days you have, then fly to Paris as required.

Pretty sure Ryanair flies Brussels-La Rochelle, if not see if you can pick up a couple of prem's from voyages.sncf there.

I'm with St.circq, La Rochelle is one of our favorite treats.

We too love La Rochelle and Ile de Re although it's about 3 rather than 2 hours from Paris. Otherwise you might consider Rennes for an introduction to Brittany
