Wineries you can tour

OK so now we know which country. We are visiting the Burgundy area in September and during the course of our research have found many, many wineries that offer tours and tastings. I would suggest that you pick up the book "Access France - touring the wine region" or one of a series of books written by Hugh Johnson about the different wine regions in France. Both mention the places that have free tastings. Also, we had written to the Burgundy office of tourism that sent us the most invaluable brochure - a listing of all vineyards in the area, which ones have tastings open to the public, and a list of tour guides if you want an organized tour. Invaluable info. Also, some vineyards have lodging. Chateau Chorey Les Beaune which is where we are staying is a B & B as well as a winery, supposively with outstanding wine.

Several of the champagne caves in the Reims/Epernay area also have tours.
This is only one website that may help
www.ville-reims.com
