Wineries to visit in Bordeaux

Hi,

Looking at visiting Bordeaux and looking for winery/vineyard recommendations? Is it best to rent a car or can it be done via transit?

Lots of options here. Some of my favorites are Lynch Bages, Smith Haut Lafite, Pape Clement, and Giscours. Take a look at this website (https://sauvistication.com/). It's a travel and wine guide for Bordeaux.

It really depends on what sort of winery you want to visit, there are high end ones that your wine merchant needs to book for you, there are those you can book yourself or there are ones that advertise on the side of the road for you to just rock up to. Then which region of Bordeaux are you interested in, the Haut Brion (generally best done by going on the Pauillac tourist information website for their group tours) the sweet wine zones like Cadillac or any of the others.

I understand an easy way is to just book a van/car tour from Bordeaux city and go with the flow.

Since France has very very tight drink/drive rules I'd make sure I had a designated driver if you are going to rent a car.

First of all, you need to visit the Cité du Vin in Bordeaux. There you can get all the necessary information about visiting wineries in the region. They will have the latest important information because a lot of vineyards were devastated by hail this year as well as other catastrophes, so the crop is not expected to be one of the best.
