wine store between FCO and Civitavecchia

Leaving on long cruise and would like to pick up case of wine on way to Civitavecchia from the airport. Will have driver and car available to take us. Any suggestions appreciated including wine choices available in Italy and not in the USA.

Do cruises allow you to bring wine on board?

I would ask your driver, who should have the best idea of the amenities along the route.

Yes: we are allowed to bring as much wine as we chose on board. Hope someone has some suggestions as where to purchase said wine

I would recommend to carry boxed wines for long cruise, as they remain fresh for longer time. Boxed wines are light weight whereas, bottles weighs 38 pounds and only 53% of the space it takes up in a shipping container is wine. The same amount of wine in 3 3-liter boxes weighs 21 pounds and 86% of the space it takes up in a shipping container is wine. Try http://www.prestigeselections.com for a huge collection of premium quality boxed wines. All orders are delivered by FedEx.

You can try out Carrefour Stores there. I've discovered one there two years back. Do't exactly know the current location but it was near the port.

While boxed wine does have its efficiencies... NCL does NOT permit boxed wines. You are permitted to bring all the champagne and wine you like, as long as you pay a corkage fee, based on size of bottle 750ml or 1.5L, but no boxed wine.
