Will tickets for summer trip likely go up or down?

How much longer can I risk waiting to buy a ticket for a July trip? I have found what I think is a reasonable price, but certainly not a bargain. Does anyone have a sense, from past experience, about when the airlines start raising prices even more for summer fares? Or should a wait a little longer and hope the prices go down. Thanks. PJK

If you believe it is reasonable buy it. The peak summer travel is July. Rarely do you find bargins for July With fuel prices going up and good travel demand, I doubt if you will much reduction. Bargains come in the winter.

As one very erudite Fodorite once said, "The prices will go up, right before they start going down again."

You never know, but I've never met a summer price that went down significantly. If you're comfortable with the price now, buy it, and don't look back.

I agree, if you feel the price is good buy it now before it goes away. Prices just seem to get higher the closer to the summer months you get.

Supply and demand. In July demand is highest, so prices go up.

Hi P,

>I have found what I think is a reasonable price,...

Buy it, and don't look at prices again.

if you can afford the fare and it seems reasonable you should buy ASAP. Waiting may see the fares go up.

And once you buy - force yourself to NOT look (not a peek) at fares again.
