Ed,

I do not think you are overplanning or obsessing, you are a man who understands that your fiancee-to-be might want the moment of her proposing to be a perfect moment and I APPLAUD you for putting so much effort into this. Whether it turns out perfect or not, she will appreciate and remember the ALL that you put into it. She will be extremely flattered and feel very, very loved.

(this is so sweet and romantic - weep weep!!)

If she is Italian (or Croatian or any other nacionality), and you are the happy holder of a green card, then she will marry you.

Ed, the stage is not as important as the feelings.

I don't recall my second husband ever exactly proposing to me. One day we just kind of found ourselves before a court clerk denying we were harboring sexually transmittable disease. Then, my live-in lover shelled out the moola for the license and we went back to work.

Thirty days later, when the license had expired due to my duckin' and dodgin', he said, "You're buying the next one."

Which I did and, being the bargain hunter that I am, I did not waste my investment.

That was twenty-four years ago.

Thank you Beatchick. She is just the most amazing thing that ever happened to me and she deserves the best. I want her to know this is probably the most important event in my life and I want to be prepared when I'm over there. It's not every day that someone wakes up to the woman of their dreams...I DO every morning. I'm giving her my mother's original ring from 40 years ago.

Sea Urchin, Maybe ed10s226 was an inmate at Rikers Island at the time of his posting.

You will be in Italy. What more do you want? I still tease my husband about the way he propsed- he put no thought into it! But to this day, we still laugh & we couldn't be happier!

You could call the hotel where you are staying and have them decorate it with roses and candles & bottle of wine or champagne before you get there.
