Normally, I refuse to go on cruises. My husband managed to talk me into 2 that I thoroughly enjoyed--in fact, among most memorable vacations--Alaska and Greece! (And my 2 sisters and their husbands/partners travelled with us! Go for it!)

I did a cruise from Rome that included stops in Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes, and Katakalon/Olympia. I enjoyed every moment and found Santorini to be gorgeous. Paros beach fit my idea of the ultimate fantasy Greek Island beach. There was a beautiful hotel there with an infinity pool. (Sorry I don't recall the name.) I could have happily relaxed there for several days or more -- and I'm sure you'll find similar places if you research.
And posters . . . chill out. There's nothing wrong with specifying what you're looking for.

No offense meant but I think the poster got off on the wrong foot here by implying he was "forced" to go to Greece. Go with an open mind - 5 star or no star - and I think it's the free things in life, the views, history and people that will make you wish to return.
