Why no PREMS??

Ugh, my first date finally opened and after monitoring the cost from CDG to Rennes for months it has more than doubled! Is there something about July 2 that I am missing? I even tried to check rates from central Paris but it's still €288 (as compared to €120 all the time I was checking).

Any insight is appreciated. If the cost doesn't come down I am going to have to do the dreaded and rent a car at CDG and drive after our overnight flight.

I see fares from 25E at www.voyages-sncf.com. Depends on the time. Do allow plenty of time in case your flight is late. (Could your bigger numbers result from looking at 2 tickets instead of one?)

I have been monitoring 5 tickets and the €120 was for all. Unfortunately I have checked SNCF and it's the same price. This is not good.

I see at least 4 PREM fares offered that day from Roissy to Rennes - 3 of them at 25 euros apiece and one at 22 euros. There's also a first class fare for 92.50 euros for two people.

I see that the train we actually want does not have the fare (although it has the entire time I was checking). We land at 6:55am and wanted the 10:28 departure. I don't want to have to sit around the airport until the next one at quarter after one. Looks like I will be driving

Not sure what to do about the return the following week now??

July 1-2 is a major travel weekend in Europe because millions of people set their vacation dates at the beginning of July or the beginning of August. In France, it may be the worst travel weekend of the year, for both trains and road travel.

Hi,
I second kerouac. If you decide to drive, be prepared for a much longer trip than it should be.

Travel days in France are described by the traffic department as green, yellow, red or black. July 1st will be a black day for sure. July 2nd may be only red.

No, July 1st is red/orange (not yellow). 2nd too.
