Why are posts deleted?

Just a simple question.

Just a simple answer: USUALLY because they disregard one of the rules of the forum which are clearly posted when you sign on.<BR>

Patrick, without listing specific examples of profanity, sexually explicit posts, and shameless commericalism, your observation seems about right.

True, but unfortunately it seems many of the deleted threads are funny, so the result is that blandness is afoot in Fodor-land, big time. Big Rick Steves smiles, everyone!

Shhhhh..Don't tell anyone, but the monitor at Fodor's is a monkey. That is why all the monkey related threads and others of dubious relevance are now gone. That monkey has NO sense of humor!

Patrick, you are utterly wrong. I have posted three times regarding my upcoming trip to London and all three times the message is GONE! One of them had about 10 responses, and now ALL those NICE, kind replies are GONE ! None of the messages posted had ANY profanity.

OK, we've established that the monkey has an aversion to threads regarding other monkeys, people standing in aisles, Key West, and now, apparently, London. Can we add anything else to the list of taboo topics on this forum?

Maira, I stand corrected. Until your complaint the only ones I had heard of being deleted were the ones which failed to meet the other criteria. Although some started out innocent enough, they degenerated pretty quickly due to some of the comments and name calling that followed. How long ago had posts been added to your questions? I spent about an hour looking for one that I thought must be missing, and it was about 800 in less than 10 days -- I had thought it had been commented on within the past few days. And the search doesn't seem to work half the time. Did you use your same name and email for each of your questions? Just checking as I was trying to remember you as I comment on so many London questions.

Patrick, I posted asking for a good location in Central London (I have stayed in Bloomsbury, wanted to try something different), also posted about the London metro card. I guess I'll start another thread. BTW, any comments on the London pass?
