Can you give me any furhter info regarding the K+K George; re: size of rooms (there'll be 3 of us in one room, condition/size of bathrooms; how is the breakfast buffet at the K+K. Did you consider the area safe enough to be "out and about" after dark. Also, any good pubs (hopefully not too expensive re: food) in the area if we decided to venture out after returning from a full day. Also, can you hop on a bus from where the hotel is located or does everyone just use the Tube. Thanks for your help

I don't check this site every day, so feel free to e-mail me directly at the above address, if you need to.

About the K&K: It's a nice boutique-style hotel, like most in London. Rooms are smallish (again, like most) and don't have any charm as they are done in a light wood, sleek Danish style. We slept three (a double bed and a single)and we were fine. One thing I didn't like: No furniture with drawers. They had a wall next to the closet with shelves and we had to put our clothes there. Bathroom was fine, but no vanity or any place to put toothpaste, brushes, etc. Very clean. Breakfast buffet was good because this is a German-owned hotel so they serve meats and cheeses with breakfast--very substantial. If you use this hotel, ask for a ground floor room with a back door onto the garden. This was the best part--they have a lovely private yard/garden.
Location is a block from the Earl's Court tube stop--fine location, but no pubs in the area that I'd frequent. I like Earl's Court, but you'll leave it to eat, drink or sightsee. Never took the bus, so can't help you there. Bottom line: I think they're overpriced (unless you get a deal that puts you in at under 120lbs for the room), otherwise, there are others I prefer in the same area.

If you need anything else, as I said, please feel free to e-mail me directly.

Mel: Did email you the other day as you mentioned. The K+K is costing us $213 per day for 8 days in Feb (paying for 7 days as a special) for the three of us with breakfast. This is a package through British Air. What other hotels are in the area that you feel are comparable? It was mentioned on this site that the Earl's Court area was not that great. I originally wanted to book air flight and hotel separately but was told since it was the first time I was traveling to London and an overnight to Paris that I could get a less expensive, all inclusive package, through the airlines. Since September and after checking this site everyday, it appears I could get better prices by arranging everything myself. Is this too difficult for a novice?? Again, thank you for your info.

Sorry I haven't picked up your message on hotmail yet--haven't been over there today either...

When I stayed at the K&K it was also thru a BA package for three in March 99 and the price was around $200 a night. We now book all travel ourselves. Check www.hotel-assist.com. Hit "London specials." I just checked and the Montana is offering triples for 90lbs, the Burns for 60lbs, the Adelphi for 90lbs. These are all nice hotels in Earl's Court (Burns) and South Kensington (Montana, Adelphi), all include full English breakfasts and all are right by good tube stops. For the price, I'd go to the Montana or Adelphi this time around. Though I have no problem with the Earl's Court area and really like the Burns, since the others are offering good prices, I'd opt for the South Ken area where you'll find some nice restaurants, a FEW pubs and a good laundramat. I've not stayed at the Montana, but I checked it out while there last year and it looked good--just remodeled. The Adelphi has small rooms, but they're charming and the hotel has a nice staff and a small, intimate bar. I've booked through hotel-assist and never had a problem. Once you ask for the reservation, you are dealing directly with the hotel. Let me know how you make out. DON'T BE AFRAID to do this on your own--you'll be fine!

Mel: Thank you for your reply...very, very helpful. I'm checking out the two you suggested and the Rembrandt through hotel-assist. Any info on that hotel? Thanks again.
