Kismet: We are flying on Delta miles. Look for me in the airport; we land around 9 am (and I'm sure there won't be many others there).

Ah, Italy......

Looking so forward to going back.

Rome for a glorious week..May 13 - 20; with at least 1 day trip to Orvieto;
Venice for another glorious week..May 21 - 27; with at least 1 day trip to either Cortina or Padua (haven't decided).
Bringing Mom (who has survived brush with Cancer) to the Vatican, along with my Niece. After having read "A Thousand Days in Venice", I want a picture of the three generations coming over a venetion bridge in complementary outfits.

Thats great DAJ, your Mom is going to love Rome..Do you have a general audience with the Pope?

You gave me an excellent idea about taking a picture on the bridge in Venice.
I am going to Venice with my daughter and Brooke, my 12 years grandaughter..3 generations also..

We've penciled in a week in Rome, a week in Florence, then a week in Switzerland, probably in mid-May.

I have been planning a trip to Italy to take my two college age nieces who have never been out of the US. About a month ago, my aunt and her daughter decided to join us. So, DAJ, we will be three generations too - 5 women from age 19 to 72. Cannot wait.
We have the beginning of a plan, thanks to all your good advice, and are now looking for reasonable airfare from Boston.
Our plan, taking the train in between cities:
Rome, June 6-10, Hotel Santa Maria.
Florence, June 10-15, Residenza Il Villino.
Venice, June 15-19, La Calcina.
Any further advice is always appreciated. Thank you.
