July is a great time to go to Italy. Hardly anyone there and the temps are perfect for sightseeing! ha ha ha, good luck with that.

We go to Italy every July. We never have had a problem even with hot temps and lots of tourists.

Have fun everyone!

Me too! Me too!
Rome 6/27-7/3
Florence 7/3-7/7
Venice 7/7-7/10

It may be hot and it may be crowded but when you have school-aged kids, your options are limited in order to get enough time to do a trip like this.
Besides, I live in the South-we're used to hot! ; )

Our first trip to Italy is July 1 to 16. We're from South Africa, so even though we might not be used to the crowds we're DEFINITELY used to the heat?

Anyone going to Capri from the 2nd July to the 5th?
I would love to go to Europe at the end of September or early October, the weather is great, the kids are in school, less people on the train etc.., but I usually take one of my grandchildren with me ,the oldest has been my travel's companion many times, therefore fall's travel is not feasable.

Great!! Maybe some of us Fodorites will meet up.

We will be in Cinque Terre a good part of the 1st week. Aside from the 5 towns, also taking some day trips to Lucca, Pisa, and where ever our hearts lead us, then Tuscany area including Siena the last few days.

I arrive June 30 in Venice for 3 nights, then 3 nights in Bologna and 5 nights in Rome. I'm a little worried about the heat, as I don't do so well in it, and I've only gone in late Sept, March and at Christmas...but I work in a school now, so this is when I can take vacation time. I figure Italy in early July is better than no Italy!

SusanP: That's (heat) exactly why I will wait for another trip to visit Venice, Rome and Florence. I'm hoping the coast will not be as hot.
