I am starting to put some thought into our departure day from Turin - - we won't be chomping at the bit to get onward to our planned stay (first night back in France), near Chambery, and it seems like we could divert 4-6 hours to explore one or two wine trails. Of course, with the list of things to do _in_ Turin, maybe we will have trouble tearing away from the city limits.
But I want to know, for comparison sake, what should we put into the ring of considerations for that day?
I must say that I am very impressed with http://www.astesana-stradadelvino.it/english/home.asp - - the website, which has an enormous amount of information on the wines and wine trails of the Asti region (be sure to click on "The wines" and "the routes", if you go looking at this website). I really appreciate finding the link to that on your stayinpiedmont.com website - - thank you, Phil!
And while I know you would like for us to concentrate on Asti, do you know if there are websites that are even vaguely, similarly good for the Alba/Barolo/Barbaresco/La Morra region(s)?

Hi Rex,
check out www.langheroero.it for information about the wine areas in Cuneo province adjoining Asti Province.
Although I live near Asti and am very much an Astigiano, if you only had one day for touring the wine country from Turin, I would do a tour of the Barolo valley, start at Serralunga, drive over to Monforte, then Barolo town, and end in La Morra. Pick up Alba on the way back to Turin, or a quick stop off at Barbaresco just over the river from the SS231 Asti-Alba road.
