Which order of cities is most logical taking public transport?

Sure everybody expresses their opinion, and I don't think there is a WRONG opinion (although I could be wrong about that.) Just bullies trying to twist your arm into taking the trip they personally like - and what's that got to do with your trip.
Sometimes the language with which people express an opinion gives you a clue about whether you share their idea of travel and want to follow their advice. The "cute" villages of le Cinque Terre originated in the need for women to have a hiding place from rapists who marauded the Italian coast. But what a cute snapshot they make today! Sure, staying in super-touristy Sorrento and commuting by bus to another picture postcard is "part of the experience" is that's the tourist experience you want. It's not WRONG to want another experience.
By the way, Naples is a fascinating European city, one of the last of its kind, with some of the very best food, coffee and pastries in all of Italy. Read up before you go and see if you would like to explore it.
