Which islands OPEN in NOV-DEC?
We arrive in Athens Nov 29 til Dec 5.
Which islands still have life on them? I found flights on Olympic Airways to the islands understanding that the ferries aren't really available that time of year.
Any suggestions??? Thanks. Christine

Because of the Olympic Airways mention, I'm assuming the Greek Isles.

On a cruise, we visited Rhodes, Crete, Santorini and Cyprus in December 2000.
All were open for business, stores cafés, etc. Don't know about nightlife. In Cyprus, we were able to sit a café in the sun without jackets...

Nearly froze our $%?&?% at the Parthenon, truly cold, even with layers. The wind was ferocious. Hope you have a better day.

Tania

Most islands are open, but services are limited--aka: ferries, clubs, some hotels.

Especially on smaller islands, they tend to shut down big clubs by September or October, although there are still smaller ones in town. Crete is great.

Sometimes the weather holds out until then, sometimes not.

If all else fails, you can hop over to a smaller island close to AThens like Hydra, Aigina or Poros. Quick ferry, no time wasted, it's an island. Done.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

This board is full of know-it alls. Too bad that they don't know how to be constructive...only destructive...

To be perfectly clear, Cyprus is divided between the southern Greek Cypriots and the northern Turkish Cypriots. The Greek word for copper is exactly translated into Cyprus, so one can be forgiven for thinking the island is Greek when in fact it is not.
