Which hotel in Dublin
I am having a hard time deciding a hotel in Dublin, Ireland. I'm stuck between Central Hotel or Jurys in Christchurch. Which one is on the better location? The hotels seem to be on the same level as far a quality ,so now we are looking for location.

Hi Jen,

If you are looking at the absolute best located accommodation in Dublin, check out the Trinity Lodge (Guest House).

It is located South of the Liffey (best), between Trinity College and St. Stephens Green and two blocks from Grafton Street shopping.

Most major central city sites and entertainment are within walking distance.

The quality of the Guest House itself is superb, with helpful staff and owners.

We chose Trinity Lodge after an exhaustive search of many, many sources that left us with no 'clear winner'. From our point of view we lucked out and ended up with the best of the best.

Have fun, Dublin is super.

Just a consideration...we stayed near the airport (which is on the North side of the Liffy) as we were flying out of Dublin back to the States the next day. We took the bus into the city. It was a 20 min ride. They also have the DART (train) and taxi service, all of which we felt was better than driving into the city and finding parking unless of course your hotel provides parking.

Jen,
To answer your question, there really isn't that much between the two. Jury's Inn is newer and overlooks historic Christchurch, and is near Leo Burdocks (best fish 'n chips in town). Whereas Central Hotel is slightly more central, but not that much. They're both really close to everything you'll need during your stay here. Remember Dublin is not that big--you can walk practically everywhere.

Wherever you decide have a fab time here. It's a wonderful city.
Best,
Ashling
I've stayed in Dublin a few times on business & would agree that Jury's is nothing special - on Sunday mornings it's VERY noisy due to the bells of the Cathedral opposite. Also avoid Bewly's hotel in Temple Bar. My two favourite hotels ( on company's budget ) were the Arlington ( Nr O'Connell Bridge ) & The Grafton Plaza ( Nr Grafton St. ). Also be advised that if the Hotel is one of those with it's own nightclub then you would do well to request a room on the highest floor available to avoid the noise late at night.

My friend, who lived in Dublin for awhile, recommended both Central Hotel and Jury's. We picked Central Hotel. I think Jury's is our version of Holiday Inn, so it depends on which city it's in, and the one in Galway may be great, while the one in Dublin may be poor? Depends on management. If you're not looking for superior accomodations, because there are many great(expensive) hotels in Dublin, Jury's or Central will be fine. You can always request a new room if it's too noisy. Good luck, and save some Guiness for us.
