Which cruise line for Russian Waterways?
We are confused. Those who went on a cruise on the Volga in Russia from Moskva to St. Petersburg. Could you recommend which of the cruise lines we should choose? What were your impressions of your experiences?
Does anyone know the e-mail of UNIWORLD? (it doesn't appear on their site).
Thank you!
AA

If you look at the postings about Russia you will see some about the river cruises that might answer some questions.
Thank you Marc David for the advice.
I have read all the postings about Russia. But since there are many cruise line operators, we are bewildered and don't know which of them we should choose. Which operator is better than the others? We would love to benefit from the experienced friends on this site.
Thank you all!
AA

I have been on a few cruises, but not to Russia yet. It has been my experience from reading cruise postings that most people have not gone on cruises to the same destinations with different cruise lines. Also, many people who give you opinions of cruise lines have only been on one cruise so they have nothing to compare it to. Therefore they can not tell you which cruise line will be better for the destination you desire. However, they will be able to tell you how they liked the cruise they went on and many things about that cruise.

Unfortunately, you will have to read thru all those posts and figure out what sounds best to you. Good luck. I hope to take a cruise through Russia soon and will be comparing people's notes. I know this will be hard to do because I just did it for a cruise to St. Maartin and St. Thomas and the impression that I got of a particular cruise line after reading the posts was not the same as my impression of the actual cruise line was once I went on the trip. ??? Sorry, I can't explain that better.

We haven't taken a Russian cruise but that will be our next major trip - probably early 2003. We have been advised by our travel agent and many travelers to make sure that the passengers are all American/English so that the guides and lecturers will be speaking in only one language. We have taken Royal Carribean and Celebrity cruises but know that these Russian cruises are definately not in the same category.

Have a look at Orthodox Cruise Line website at www.cruise.ru, many of UNIWORLD Cruises use Orthodox. If you deal direct with Orthodox you may be able to get a cruise for half of what is shown in Orthodox brochure.
