Hi:
I had a bad experience in Brussels as
people were extremely nasty.
Germany-- not to friendly near Franfurt.
Egypt (Cairo) very aggressive people
and very scary as a woman in a male
dominated country. I would never go
again but the Spinx and the pyramids
were impressive but I have traveled all over the world but going there cured
me of ever going to any third world country again. Europe, Barbadoes and the U.S Virgin Islands are still my
favorite places.
El

My wife hates Japan . . . all of it. She thinks there are too many people, they exist underground, have discovered and abused concrete and steel and abhors the relationship and cultural value of men to women (I agree on the last part). Besides that she hates the food.

Which goes to the story of a business trip where the client (several senior executives) took us to dinner. My wife left portions of each course untouched in the serving vessels. Unknown to her was that it is impolite to remove dishes that are not empty. She ended up with 20 or so plates/cups/saucers etc in front of her and her alone before our host violated custom by having the excess removed.

With our hosts tact the situation has become a running gag line between him and my wife. And when he visited us in our home in the US she did not remove any dishes from in front of him (kept refilling those puppies) until he yelled uncle).

As for me, every country I have visited has been interesting (some 60+). I have had less than nice experiences, but nothing really 'bad' like life or liberty threatening.

Where does one draw the line? At ones comfort/risk/fear level. I have not found mine yet - including Palestine, Israel (Afghanistan many moons ago - Iraq never - Iran before upheavel - China recently etc. etc.)
