Which area of France did you enjoy most?
Avoiding all questions about "best" of anything, I'd just like to know which of these two areas in France you enjoyed the most, if you've been to both:
-Mont Ventoux/Luberon area
-Dordogne/Lot area
I'd appreciate any comments to help me decide for my trip next spring.

I've spent 8 weeks in the Mt Ventoux/Luberon area (plus another 6 elsewhere in Provence), and 12 weeks in the Dordogne/Lot region (all since '99). I just returned from 4 weeks in the Dordogne (met Ira there), and in June we spent 2 weeks at the base of Mt Ventoux.
Preferences?
Provence in June when the lavender & sunflowers are in bloom, the days are long & warm, and the area screams "summer". Visit some sites in the morning, have a leisurly lunch with chevre, mussels, and pink wine by the pool, and snooze & read a book after lunch. A drive in the Luberon just before a dinner on an outside veranda, overlooking vineyards.
Dordogne/Lot in September when there is a hint of fall in the area, walnuts are falling from trees, nice & long dinners with foie gras, magret de canard, pigeon, & red Cahors wine. Outdoor markets, fewer tourists, and those wonderful medieval villages, castles, pre-historic caves, & grottes.

I prefer Provence first, the smell of the herbs growing on the Garrigue, the friendliness of the Provençals, The Food.
the colors, the clear skies , especially after the Mistral blows,
I could go on and on. Second I love Brittany. The Coastline is stunning, the seafood unbeatable, and you meet so many French from Paris and other areas who vacation there.

I love France and have been blessed with the opportunity to visit quite a few times; Paris, Loire Valley, Normandy Region, Calais Area, Alpes Maritimes, French Riviera, Provence Region, Lyon and environs. I have to say the French Riviera and the Normandy Region are highlights of those visits. The French Riviera in particular is spectacular in every sense. 8-)
