Neuschwanstein Castle & Fear of Heights
What do you think Neuschwanstein Castle will be like for someone to visit who has an acute fear of heights? Obviously walking St. Mary's Bridge won't be an option. Is the other castle, Hohenschwangau, also situated high up?

Although Neuschwanstein is perched on a steep mountainside, there is no sense of height when you're in it, because the walls are so thick you can't see how far down the ground is.
Relax and enjoy the vistas.

Walking to and from the castle, you don't really get much sense of how high you are. Once inside, you can look out the windows at the views to the "valley". Even inside, the view is not as "high" as being in a skyscrpaer building and looking down.

I agree with the above. The only sense of "height" might come from that rather long road UP to the castle itself but there are horse-drawn wagons available (for a fee) if you prefer to save energy.

I am scared to death of heights, and avoided that bridge. But I don't remember anything else in there that scared me.

You might want to take the carriage ride up as opposed to walking. It is a steep and hard walk really. As you go around some curves you do get a feel for how high you are. better to be safe than sorry.
Once inside, you will be fine.
I am not afraid of heights at all, but that bridge is so scary!! I walked to the middle took a picture and immediatley got off!
Have Fun!
