Since the owner of a back street cafe in Venice gave my friends and i a free round of this "Lemon Vodka" tasting liquor, I have been on the lookout for it in New York ever since. If anyone knows how i can get ahold of some. PLEASE let me know. Thanks alot.

It's available all over the place in the Amalfi coastline towns; yes, that doesn't help you being in New York.

A website, perhaps? Surely it could be gotten online.

Most major liquor stores carry it. I live in a little town town in middle America and they even had some here.

Mmmm, limoncella...

Kevin,
agree with Turnip.
You should be able to find it.
I live in Vermont, and O.K. , I have to drive 50 mins to a store that does carry it, but...
If you live in The City, go down to Little Italy, I am sure there will be no shortage of brands to choose from.

Saw Lemoncello in a liquor store window on Lexington Avenue between either 48th and 47th or 47th and 46th on the west side of Lexington Avenue.

I happen to have a bottle in my freezer - husband and I brought it back from Sorrento. The ingredients listed are as follows: alcool fino 35%, zucchero (sugar), scorze di limoni (lemon peel), acqua q.b. al vol. totale. Unfortunately, I have no idea how much of each is added. The label says Liminoro - Via San Cesario, 51 Sorrento.

I know the liquor store mentioned on Lex between 47/48 has a very good selection of wines, etc. so they may carry it. Any of the better liquor stores will carry it but you want to get the real thing inported and not a cheap imitation.

Ahhh, this post brought me back to Sorrento and going from factory to factory and tasting limoncello.

I've seen it in Italian food stores in the area (but can't name any in particular) so I know it's around. There's a casual, nice, moderately priced restaurant on 8th Ave and West 56th called Bricco. They serve limoncello there. I also think they have it "homemade" using the Capri-native-owner's recipe.

In case you like to order online, there is a terrific liquor store in Chicago with a site with a number of limoncello selections. The site is www.samswine.com, search "spirits", then "Italy". It pulls up lots of grappa, but the limoncello listings began on page 3 or 4 of 5.

My travel page has 2 limoncello recipes (one made with milk for a delicious limoncello cream). They are from my husbands cousin from Naples, Italy that I got in 1998. I make it all the time! It's very easy to make and goes quickly.

http://www.luvtotravel.homestead.com/recipes.html

Enjoy!

Kevin,
I have a bottle of Lemoncello in the freezer as we speak...

Got it at the local winery/liquor store here in Florida... I think the Italian brand I bought was Toschi for about $20.00USD ... the other brand was $23.00USD and in a beautiful bottle (but too tall to fit in the freezer...)

So my point is, you can probably get it locally.

According to my Neapolitan sources there are 2 main types of Limoncello:
1) the pale yellow almost transparent stuff

2) the creamy liqueur stuff for the refined palate/beginners.

A night on the limoncello in Sorrento still ranks in my top three of 'worst hangovers' the next morning. No-one told me it was an aperitif so i had six of them (the original kind). Next morning I looked as if I had been freshly dug up.
