Actually, there are places where we have already spent 20+ vacations.

But these are not the typical tourist destinations. We live 5 hours driving time from Paris, and each time we are driving near Paris, our kids keep saying "we have been three times to Paris, not again".

The places where we go back again and again are different:

1. Brittany.
2. Cote d'Azur.
3. Provence/Languedoc.
4. Aquitaine.

Of course, we know these areas so well that we do not much sightseeing there, because after the third visit you have seen everything.

But we go there because of the climate, the scenery, the beaches, the food, the people, the lifestyle - mainly to relax.

But this is, of course, a very European view. (The view of people who spend 10 weeks per year on vacation.)

But this is, of course, a very European view.

I disagree. I don't think this is at all different from the scores of Americans I know who have a summer house, or who go back to the same vacation spot for their entire lives. Or those that take their kids to Disney World every year. Indeed, I would say those that travel widely are in the minority in both the US and in Europe.

It is simply a difference in travel habits. I like to travel widely. My best friend (American), goes to the same beach town he has been going to for the past 20 years, every chance he gets. He will spend the bulk of his vacation time in the same house he spent every summer in growing up. Nothing European or American about it.

Have been to London 3 years in a row!
Really like Paris and Italy (spent a month here last year) too, but London is our all time favorite

the" European view" might be a reference to " people who spend 10 weeks per year on vacation ", rather than people returning to the same spot over the years!

Bayern - anywhere
Brugge
Meersburg
Sarlat
Venezia

All places where the "pull" is strong enough that I get somewhat emotional just thinking about getting back.

Like some others - I keep telling myself I should travel somewhere other than Europe but I just can't see it except for Namibia.

London or anywhere in the UK. Leaving for London and Amsterdam 8/25. And, I'd go back to Paris anytime, it's a great city.

But, London is my favorite and always a fun time and I love London theater.

Paris
Paris, my third trip in September, and I haven't even gotten to half the museums.

I'm not a foody but there is something about Paris, the streets, the architecture,Luxembourg park - the D'orsay -the bridges with gold encrusted statues....

Brugges is so charming, and I'd like to go back there one day, but I hate to take time away from Paris,

and Lisbon is so interesting,

but no place draws me like Paris does.
