Where to stay in Venice, Florence and Rome?

We are arriving in Italy 4/2 and are looking for convenient and reasonably price hotels in Venice, Florence and Rome - 100,000 - 200,000 lira. Also 2 nights in Naples. Has anyone got any suggestions. We want to see the sights, and aren't picky as long as they're clean and accessable to local transportation. Please help - time is running out!!!

I spent *days* on this post trying to research hotels for our trip to Florence and Room. After much thought, I ultimately chose Pensione Bencista (15 minutes outside of Florence and apparently wonderful) and Hotel Genio in Rome (excellent location right on the square). Do a search on these hotels and you'll see. I also considered Hotel Mario in Florence (cheaper) and Santa Chiara in Rome. All are in your $$ range and received excellent comments.

Oops! Just realized it says 200,000 not 300,000 like I was thinking! Sorry. You can still try Hotel Mario in Florence

Try Hotel Accademia in Venice. right on the Grand Canal at the Accademia Bridge. Great staff and location, largest room is great, and under $100. per night. Can't beat it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to those same cities, leaving 4/3 and must say that when I've tried to reserve on the web, many have been fully booked for months, especially Venice as we'll be there over Easter Weekend...and, admittedly need a quadruple room which are in short supply...BUT, based on my experience so far, I'd recommend you get on it right away and make reservations! These websites are the ones I used:

www.venere.it
www.itwg.com
